Saia Inc. said Thursday it earned a profit in the second quarter of $2 million, or 12 cents a share, compared with a loss of $1.8 million, or 13 cents a year ago.

Initial jobless claims fell by 11,000 last week, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.’s third-quarter profit more than doubled, though the company forecast an operating loss for its North American market this year.

Wright Express Corp.’s third-quarter profit fell to $23.4 million, or 60 cents per share, compared with $72.3 million, or $1.82, a year ago.
